Next WCAGS Meeting: Saturday, November 16, 2013 10 am Walker Meeting Room at the Fayetteville Public Library
The Fayetteville Public Library and the Washington County Arkansas Genealogical Society (WCAGS) will present a free workshop Native American Genealogy with Gene Norris Saturday morning November 16, at 10:00am in the Walker Community Room. Gene will guide participants through the steps to trace their family tree using birth/death certificates, marriage records, census data, and genealogical databases.
Gene Norris is the senior genealogist with the Cherokee National Historical Society, Inc. A board member of Oklahoma Chapter of the National Trail of Tears Association and the Cherokee Arts & Humanities Council, Inc. as well as a member of the Genealogical Speakers Guild, the National Genealogical Society, and the Georgia Chapter of the National Trail of Tears Association. He has thirty years of experience in genealogical research. He has articles published in historical quarterlies and facilitates classes and seminars on Cherokee history and genealogy.
Sponsors of the workshop include the Washington County Arkansas Genealogical Society (WCASG) which is dedicated to preserving genealogical and historical information with the spotlight on Washington County. WCAGS emphasizes accurate information while maintaining ethical research practices.
Registration is not required and the event is free and open to anyone interested in tracing Native American roots.
